How To Change Your Screen Resolution:

You can change the screen resolution to adjust the size of the items displayed on your screen.  Keep in mind, your monitor and video card ultimately determine which screen resolution you can use.  If you should exceed the capability of your monitor, it will show only wavy lines or go blank, so be careful.

Your screen resolution is measured by the number of horizontal and vertical pixels.  A pixel is the smallest element displayed on a screen (dots).  Most monitors can display between 640x480 and 1024x768.  However, always check the owner’s manual to ensure what your monitor’s capabilities are.

Lower Resolution – This makes the images larger and they can be seen more clearly, but fewer images are shown on the screen because they are bigger.  The lowest resolution that can be obtained is 640x480; many computer games are still designed to run at this resolution.

Steps:

Rick click in a blank area of your desktop (a menu will appear)

Click Properties (this brings up the Display Properties dialog box)

Click the Settings tab

Drag the Screen area slider to the left until you have reached the desired resolution

Select the resolution you want (640x480 is the lowest you can go)

Click Apply

Click OK

Higher Resolution – This makes the images smaller and thus more information can fit on your monitor screen.  For example, to display all of a word document or spreadsheet, you may need to switch to a higher resolution.

 Steps:

Rick click in a blank area of your desktop (a menu will appear)

Click Properties (this brings up the Display Properties dialog box)

Click the Settings tab

Drag the Screen area slider to the right until you have reached the desired resolution

Select the resolution you want

Click Apply

Click OK

Note: The area above the display monitor (looks like a big monitor) listing will show you what the items will look like on your screen.  Also once you click OK, a dialog box will appear that will prompt you to click for confirmation; it may also want to restart your computer.  This is okay, but make sure you have save any unfinished work.
